How to start doing snowboarding tricks?Rails, jumps, ect?
Well Ive been snowboarding for a while i think i can start doing tricks
explain please
well start small, be confident, for jumps don’t do tricks, be confident with the jump then do tricks, the landing makes the jump what it is, make sure it has a good landing, watch people do whatever you are gonna do first. Start out with thick not very highly raised box’s first. then when you are very confident try a small rail;, they are very different. Start out with board slide on rails or box’s. And a method for air tricks. that’s where you bring the board back and grab it.
snowboarding tricks is there any i can learn?
I like snowboarding alot mostly i jib but none of my friends like to so i went in ski club with them i started to cool tricks i can do 180 almost flawless and i have only landed the 360 5 times. I can do a method and indy. Are there any tricks i should learn for next year. Is there anything i can do over the summer to help me with me spins.
PS i have no snow where i live in the summer
Twist your body a little more on those threes on some of those small medium jumps, and just get it in your head you need to land switch and bam, you have fives, easy steezy. Get a trampoline, and duct tape your edges you can learn some sweet grabs and sweet flips, its pretty similar to the feeling of going off jumps, except you are stationary,
Also go skate, It is really similar, and your legs will stay in shape for jumping.
Keep shredding

Ok i know how to snowboard like ride down hills and stuff and can occasionaly hit jumps. But i got no style. I dont know how to carve. How do you carve? and how do u do spins off jumps
well to learn how to carve it really helps to get a few lessons from the people at your local mountain. As for spins off a jumps. If your doing a 180 it helps to ride switch off the jump so that when you do your half turn you land the way you ride. If your going for 360 when your learning it helps to turn at the top so that u get momentum and you have less to spin. Hope this helps

i only snowboarded twice and i already know how to stop and turn. how long befor i can start doing jumps?
how long would it take for me to learn how to s turn and doing jumps and boxs? i plan to go this upcoming season almost every weekend.
you need a little more than stopping and turning. you need to be able to carve (or s turn as you put it). you actually need a pretty decent amout of carving experience. once you feel that your good at carving move on to doing ollies and 180′s on flat. practice your ollies for a good amount of time and your pretty much ready to jump.
definitely do not rush yourself. the more time and effort you put in one thing the better everything else will be in the long run. start out small and work your way up and theres a far less chance of you hurting yourself. but dont be afraid to do the big stuff when you get there. the moment you second guess yourself is the moment you get hurt.
definitely check out a few videos on carving, ollies, 180′s, and jumping on youtube. theyre a great way to get to know what your doing ahead of when you actually execute it.
be safe and have fun :]
6 commentsHow hard is it to learn to do a jump on a snowboard?
This is my second year snowboarding. I’ve got it down pretty well. My carving is great and I can def go fast enough. I want to learn how to do jumps next.
Have any pointers on how to go about learning?
Or any tips? Thanks ![]()
Is mostly practice but you have to keep in mind three important basic rules:
1) Always leave the jump flat based, unless you are planning on rotation or aerials, but that will come in time. At the beginning stages make sure you are flat based this will give you a good posture in mid air.
2) Keep a little bit more weight on your front leg, lean forward, unless you are planning on a backflip or some sort of aerial/rotation. It’s easier to stabilize your stance in mid air, now to mention that the body has a natural tendency of leaning back so even if you feel you are leaning forward in reality you might be just centered.
3) Never ollie/jump out of a…jump. They are called kickers, jumps, ramp, etc. and they are designed with one idea in mind, to send you flying. That being said, there is no reason to jump as you leave the kicker, unless you want to pull off something weird, if you want to go higher you will need more speed or a bigger feature.
Start small and progress to bigger features, this is particularly important if you ride on icy conditions.

how do i start doing tricks on my snowboard like i’m comfterble going off jumps but i dont know how much speed?
how much speed do i need to go off jumps and i dont know how to judge speed i’m not comfterble yet doing an ollie off the jumps how do i build up to that
this is for snowboarding how do i get comfterble with olling with my snowboard off jumps
Gage it the first time you go off the ramp. then see if you need more speed or not. Then when you have the speed you want, Do an easy grab to start off with then work your way to 180′s and 360′s
How do you perform jumps off hills on a snowboard?
I have been snowboarding a handful of times on rental equipment and everytime I jump off a hill I dont get any air and faceplant in the snow. Any other tips on snowboarding tricks. I can go really fast down the mountain without falling and can go either regular or goofy footed, so I am not completely brand new.
Watch how other snowboarders are doing it. You’ll notice that the people who fall after they try a jump are doing the wrong things with their body. When they get to the lip, they aren’t moving fast enough (go too slow and you won’t be able to land smoothly) and they aren’t keeping their body quiet. What I mean by that is that good riders hit a jump, and have their body positioned before or early into the jump. Waving your arms or looking anywhere but the place you want to go will cause your body to land wrong, ending in the faceplant. I know I felt REALLY self-conscious when learning how to jump (its embarrasing in front of good riders right?) so go early in the morning and practice, or go during the beginning of the week, when the parks and terrain are mostly empty and you won’t get in the way of more experienced riders. Also stay within your range of comfort with size of jumps and drops, and only move up when you’ve almost mastered the level you’re at.
Jump basics:
1. Approach with enough speed, don’t speed check right before you go off or you’ll fall after or look stupid doing it.
2. Don’t look down at your feet or you will fall. Don’t look anywhere except straight ahead at the jump, and when you are up in the air, look for your landing and where you will be, not down, or you will panic and fall.
3. Keep your shoulders as much pointed towards the direction you’re going as possible.
4. Land naturally with yourself looking forward (not down) and allow your knees and back to compress and take the impact. Don’t panic and tighten your muscles too much or you’ll crash.
