snowboarding tricks?

im look for the names of basic snowboarding tricks, and some videos if you have some (youtube is useless if you dont know the names). and some tips on doing tricks (i already know to pull your knees to your chest when doing grabs, instead of bending for it). and how do you start doing a basic 180 or 360?

AERIAL TRICKS

Ollies
This is the fundamental maneuver for a lot of Aerial Tricks. It is also useful when jumping over small obstacles. Learn how to perform an Ollie in this section.

Air to Fakie
This Aerial Trick involves making a 180-degree turn in the air and then riding switch. Doing an Air to Fakie can help you fine-tune your movements in the air. Let this section show you how to make this trick.

SURFACE TRICKS

Wheelies
Learn how to maintain balance while riding just one end of your board by doing a Wheelie. This trick will help you in building up power as you lift the board’s nose or tail while riding. Get some Snowboarding Tips on how to do a Wheelie in this section.

Butters
Butter is making a series of full turns. Make sure that you are already comfortable in turning and lifting one end of your board before trying this trick.

Nose and Tail Rolls
A Nose and Tail Roll is done by using either your board’s nose or tail to spin 180 degrees and thus changing your stance. Learn how to perform Nose and Tail Rolls in this section.

Sorry dude I don’t know where you can get a video from though.

Basic questions about snowboarding?

So I have always wanted to go snowboarding, when I was younger I always thought I would be really good at it, but never got to go. Now the guy Im with wants to go this winter, he says hes taken two girls there before and the were horrible at it…anyway is it easy to learn? Whats the hardest part about it? also what all gear should I buy besides the pants and coat? And, where are some good places to get reasonably priced boards and gear? & anything else I need to know would be great. Thanks!

Yes, snowboarding is hard at first but once you go down the hill a few times you start to learn and it gets fun.

The hardest part in my opinion would be stopping but you can learn how to stop very well if you have someone teach you.

First of all, you need a board i would suggest buying a used board if its your first time because they are very cheap but still good. The bindings usually come with a used board. You may also need snowboarding boots, but if your not too serious you can just use some normal winter boots.

I would suggest getting lessons before you start actually snowboarding, but if your not up for that you can just have a friend help you learn.

So that’s basically snowboarding in a nutshell. Take it easy on the slopes and have fun!

basic snowboarding trip? ?

ok im about to go on a snowboarding trip with my friends and it costs 420 dollars to go snowboarding and have a teacher for 2 days. the money also includes eating, the oil price (Cuz the team’s car is going to drive us back and forth), and the lift rental, is this price reasonable?

i mean i dont really get it, my parents are complaining that its too pricey and when i asked my cousin (who goes snowbaording and skiing often) she said that, that was the normal price range. and all my dad is doing is complaining that its so expensive and saying, this is weird, tell me AGAIN where the money is going to. gosh, hes making me feel pretty pissed right now. so tell me, is 420 the normal price range for 2 days of snowboarding, a teacher, and the lift rental?

it depends how big the resort is, how far away it is, how you’re getting there, when in the season, do you have to rent?

Really, that sounds like an okay price to me. Nothing special though. It’s mid-season right now, and most specials are given early or late season.

Here’s what I’m doing this winter and the price. Note I have my own gear and don’t have to rent. Note also that I’m going with the University of Illinois Ski and Snowboard Club, so we get a good discount.

For for 6 days, 5 nights of lodging, 4 days of lift tickets, at a nice, big mountain resort (Winter Park, CO). We pay $405.

They provide a bus for $160

Although, personally, I am taking a train (IL to CO) round trip for like $270. I waited too long to buy my train ticket, earlier it would have been less than $200.

Food and rentals (if you need them) are the individual’s expense.

So basically, we could go for like $565 (plus food and possibly rentals), 4 days of skiing/snowboarding, at a very nice, big mountain, that we live far from.

Take that into consideration.

whats the best way to get good at snowboarding?

i have all the basics down but i want to take to the next level , should i just be crazy?

practice practice practice!!! when i was learning i would fall all of the time, and the key for me was to hurry up and get back on my board, and off my butt. there is a saying that goes "if your not falling hard your not trying hard" i think it holds true. lessons are good, but they arent necessary for all beginers!! be the ONE! Git’ R’ Dun’

Does skateboarding help Snowboarding?

gonna go snowboarding for the first time in january. will learning how to skateboard in the coming month help me pick up some basics for snowboarding? if so, should i go for a longboard or standard skateboard? i’m a pretty big guy at 240 lbs and the longboards seem to flex a lot at the center which turns me away from them…

Skateboarding doesnt help as much as you would think. with skateboarding your being propelled from the rear. with snowboarding, gravity is doing all the work. the closest thing to snowboarding is wakeboarding. when wakeboarding you are being pulled and all of you manuvers are for the most part the same. but skateboarding can help in limited areas, like leaning and balance (which are very important). even turning is different bc on a snowboard your back foot does most of the turning. if you want to skateboard and work on your balance and leaning, then use a longboard. your stance and body positions and manuverability will be similar to the snow.
